Excellent Product, But Buyer Beware, Check Product Number

This product is entitled "Philips HTS5562/12"; however, the description later mentions the cheaper model "HTS5561/12". Be careful as to which one is actually supplied. If you're paying £380ish I would say the 5561 is being supplied.So, what's the difference? Well, the 5562 has an iPod dock (DCK3060) and a Wi-Fi adapter (WUB1110) supplied, the 5561 you have to buy them as extras (cost approx. £90). Apart from that they are the same machine.So, why did I award 5 stars? Straight out of the box it's a beautiful and sleek looking unit, in an attractive gunmetal finish. Initial setup of the system is a cinch, with easy to follow instructions - though I did download the PDF manual from the website for more detailed aspects of the setup. The picture produced by the blu ray is exceptional and the sound quality is amazing. However, as with most Philips products (I have a Philips LCD TV) it is worth entering the setup for different film and sound styles. A tweak here and there turns the brilliant into the exceptional. If playing a normal DVD the upscaling is very impressive, a couple of times I thought I was watching a blu ray. When matched with an EasyLink TV, control of the unit via the TV's remote is very easy and very convenient.If connected to the internet the unit has the benefit of BBC iPlayer via NetTV, plus other services like Facebook and YouTube. Picture quality for BBC iPlayer on a 46inch TV is very good indeed, far better than I get on my PC, even with a fast connection.Although it's an expensive extra, I purchased the wireless unit (RWSS5510 approx. £92) for the rear speakers. It was well worth it for the convenience and lack of cables. There is no drop in sound quality or interference from other electrical or wireless sources.Anything I don't like? Yes, a couple of minor niggles. The Wi-Fi dongle has to connect at the front of the unit, an ungainly and untidy solution. When connected with Sky it occasionally defaults to 180ms audio delay on audio sync - this can be rectified through settings, but is still a minor inconvenience.Neither of these niggles are enough to reduce the award of 5 stars though. The overall performance is what matters, and that's superb. If you want blu ray and cinema surround sound, but don't want two units, don't look any further. This is the unit for you; I love it.

I've had this unit for a couple of months now, after my best mate researched home cinema systems, and this truely is on a whole new level of sound systems.The only flaw I have with it is the fact that when I connect my pc to it, it wont play true 5.1 surround sound from the optical cable or jacks.Could do with a 5.1 input to the system for connecting to your pc.
